Investigator assessment

Analysis narrative

The pilot reported he was attempting a takeoff from a 2,100 ft turf runway when he observed a sudden tailwind and the stall horn activated. The pilot aborted the takeoff but was unable to stop the airplane on the remaining runway. The airplane departed the runway and struck a barbed wire fence. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the left wing. The pilot reported that there were no mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
