Factual narrative
On August 15, 1993, at approximately 1200 mountain daylight time, a Cessna 140, N1142D, was substantially damaged when it nosed over after landing at a private airstrip near Lake Arthur, New Mexico. The private pilot was not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for this local area personal flight. According to the pilot after a landing roll of 200 to 300 feet, the aircraft veered to the left, departed the side of the runway for undetermined reasons, and nosed over. During an interview, conducted by a Federal Aviation Administration inspector, the pilot stated that no mechanical discrepancies were found. -
