Preliminary narrative
On January 19, 2025, about 1410 eastern standard time, a Montaer MC-01, N916VS, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Miramar, Florida. The private pilot sustained minor injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot reported that the purpose of the flight was a trip to the Bahamas. During the takeoff roll, just after rotation, the engine lost power. The pilot then performed a forced landing on airport property in the grass area near the departure end of the runway. Upon touching down the right main landing gear and nose landing gear collapsed. The airplane then nosed over and came to rest inverted. Postaccident examination by a Federal Aviation Administration inspector found substantial damage to the fuselage, vertical stabilizer, rudder, and both wings. Data was downloaded from the electronic engine control unit and sent to the engine manufacturer for readout. The electronic avionics were removed and sent to the National Transportation Safety Board vehicle recorders laboratory for data download. The airplane was retained for further examination.
