Investigator assessment

Analysis narrative

The student pilot was taxiing to the ramp after her second solo flight. As she entered the ramp area and taxied along the painted centerline, she misjudged the clearance between the airplane’s wingtip and a parked work truck, and the outboard portion of the airplane’s right wing struck the truck. The airplane pivoted right and the propeller impacted the back of the truck before coming to rest. The airplane’s right wing was substantially damaged. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
