Probable cause

The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control in gusting wind conditions during the takeoff roll.

Investigator assessment

Analysis narrative

The pilot reported that on takeoff, with a gusting crosswind, the airplane veered off the left side of the runway. The airplane struck a berm, nosed over and sustained substantial damage to the fuselage. The pilot reported that there were no mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
